Linolite: Elan | 2000

Following on from the success of the Linolite Elite the Elan shavolite was developed in 2000. The Elan was a lower specification than the Elite. The Elan used a linear filament lamp, and retained the traditional pull-cord.

The shaver socket was set to the side to maintain a clean and uncluttered appearance. The logo button was available in white, chrome or gold and could be rotated through 180 degrees. This meant the luminaire could be mounted to suit left-hand or right-handed users. The internal switch and cord were placed in such a way to allow for this change of orientation.

The assembly of the Elan was completely screwless. The body, diffuser and shaver socket assembly were all designed to snap together to help speed up assembly. The Elan enjoyed a successful run until the changes in energy legislation brought about the demise of the lamp used.
